Born in Järfälla on the 2nd of February 1998, Rebecka Rydgren is a young and emerging Swedish singer and songwriter using the stage name RBECKA.
Music was always a major part of her life when growing up. Her first solo performances were at shows organized by her elementary and middle school.
RBECKA’s voice is marked by a unique vibrato, complementing her already distinct singing. Her powerful and compelling voice allows her to convey raw emotion. She draws inspiration from singers such as Florence Welch, Matt Corby and Bishop Briggs.
Her music can be described as dark pop influenced by soul and alternative genres, in combination with a dramatic and mysterious atmosphere.
Over the years, RBECKA has performed on several stages throughout Sweden. She has sung numerous times in Kungsträdgården in Stockholm, on large international music festivals such as “Live at Heart” and on the main stage at Malmöfestivalen in front of 20 000 people.
In 2016, RBECKA released her debut singles ”Should Have Surrendered” and ”Be the One” as an independent artist, without any management backing. The singles, which were written by Ditte Lindbom, have reached over 400.000 streams on Spotify, have been played on several local radio stations all over Sweden and have been featured in multiple music blogs all over the world. RBECKA has been interviewed and performed her singles live in a few radio stations such as P4 and P5 Stockholm and P3 Din gata, which are well-known within Sweden.
Since the release of her first two singles, RBECKA has focused on writing new material by herself and in collaboration with others. A great effort has been put into sharing the heart and soul of each song through well-written lyrics. This has resulted in many new songs that will be released during fall and winter of 2017.
Her latest single, “Raindrops”, released on September 1st , is written by RBECKA in collaboration with an international team of songwriters and producers known as ”Wild Ghosts”.
